05/03/2010 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jiyai Shin was victorious on the Japan LPGA Tour over the weekend and that helped her take over the top spot in the women's world golf rankings.

Shin takes over the top spot from the retiring Lorena Ochoa. Shin is just the third woman to hold the No. 1 spot, joining Annika Sorenstam and Ochoa, who had been No. 1 for 158 weeks since overtaking Sorenstam in April 2007.

The rankings have only been in place since February 2006.

Ochoa, who slipped to No. 2, retired as an active player after Sunday's Tres Marias Championship. The Mexican has petitioned the Rolex Rankings Technical Committee to remove her name from the list as soon as possible.

Ai Miyazato won for the third time this season Sunday at Tres Marias and that helped her climb two places to No. 3.

Miyazato stands just 0.18 average points behind Shin and could take over the top spot next week after competing in this week's Japan LPGA event, the Salonpas Cup, which is the first major of the season on that tour.

Her move knocked Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen down a spot apiece to four and five.

Cristie Kerr held steady at No. 6 and was again followed by Anna Nordqvist. Michelle Wie took third behind Miyazato and improved one place to eighth, bumping Karrie Webb down one to ninth.

Na Yeon Choi and In Kyung Kim both moved up two notches to 10th and 11th respectively. Those moves dropped Angela Stanford and Paula Creamer down a pair to 12th and 13th.

The remainder of the top 20 was unchanged with No. 14 Song-Hee Kim followed again by Inbee Park, Sakura Yokomine, Chie Arimura, Catriona Matthew, Hee Kyung Seo and Shinobu Moromizato.
